Three Client Executives Promoted to Barney & Barney Ownership Group

San Diego, CA – Paul Hering, Managing Principal / CEO of Barney & Barney LLC, one of the nation’s largest insurance brokerages, is pleased to announce that Catherine Botello, Marc Pannier and Steve Shea have been made Principals of the firm. All three have been key players in the expansion of their respective departments, according to Hering.
"In their new roles as owners of the company, Catherine, Marc and Steve will be able to serve Barney & Barney in an even greater capacity. Adding them to the ownership team will prove to be an asset to the company as a whole," Hering said.
Both Catherine and Steve have been integral to the aggressive and continued growth of the firm’s San Diego office.
Catherine joined Barney & Barney in 2002 and became a Principal in 2010. With over 13 years in the insurance industry, Catherine has devoted her career at Barney & Barney to the Employee Benefits Division. Prior to joining Barney & Barney, Catherine worked at the Automobile Club of Southern California where she was responsible for business development and client management for a variety of insurance products. This, combined with her employee benefits experience, provides Catherine with an extensive working knowledge of risk management and health & welfare consulting.
Steve joined the firm in 2002 and became a Principal in 2010. Prior to becoming Principal, he served as a Client Executive in Barney & Barney’s Commercial Department, responsible for account service and retention, new account development and growth of niche insurance programs. Steve offers clients an in-depth insurance background that includes expertise in loss control, underwriting, marketing and program management. He has worked with such companies as Chubb & Son as well as other national independent insurance agencies.
Since joining the firm since 2006, Marc has been a key player in the establishment and expansion of the company’s Orange County office. His responsibilities include business development and management of large and middle-market benefits clients. Prior to joining Barney & Barney, Marc worked at Marsh & McLennan Companies for 12 years, including Mercer and Johnson & Higgins. Prior to the brokerage industry, Marc worked for two years at Health Net, one of California's largest managed care companies.
